I’ve just returned, along with my fellow THE LION IN WINTER cast members, from the FestivALL Charleston Theatre Festival. It was the first time for the event that was held at the Walker Theater at the Clay Center, and it went surprisingly smoothly on the day we performed.

Major kudos go to Victor Folio for providing the van and orchestrating the set/props loading and transportation and to the cast members who helped him load and unload all that stuff. It was also great having Andrew Fulton step in in the role of King Philip for this performance. Many thanks, too, go to Jason Young who stepped in as stage manager for the event for us. Jason’s show, TALKING WITH…, with the Backyard Theatre Co. was also a participating group.

I performed in that show, too. All in all we rehearsed both shows twice on Saturday and performed them that evening. I started the night as Eleanor of Aquitaine and ended it as Anna Mae (”French Fries”). I had a blast!

After the Saturday performances the Kanawha Players fed us all at their newly purchased building. We didn’t stay for the Sunday afternoon performances, but I sincerely hope they had as good a time as we did… and as good an audience. What a great crowd that night! In numbers AND enthusiasm.

Here’s the casting for ACT 2 Theatre Company’s Oct.-Nov.2005 performance of SOMETHING’S AFOOT. Lisa Mosca is directing with the assistance of Dan Hyman.

Casting could change by the time we start rehearsals in September– (Greg has already told me he’ll have to be out of town one of the show weekends, and I’d really like to not have to play a man.) –but here it is as of the auditions:

Lettie, the saucy maid - Colleen King
Flint, the lecherous handyman - Jason Young
Clive, the faithful manservant - Greg Mach
Hope, the naive ingenue - Lauren Morrison
Dr. Grayburn, the kindly old doctor - Lydia Mong or some man that Lisa can dig up
Nigel, the arrogant aristocrat - Christian Cox
Lady Prowe, the sophisticated socialite - Tammy Calef
Colonel, the dottering former military man - Mickey Valentine
Miss Tweed, the ‘Miss Marple’ type sleuth - Robin Hicks
Geoffery, the young, stalwart ingenue - Michael Squires

So, if there are any guys out there who are interested in being a part of this funny, funny show let Lisa know!

The ACT 2 Theatre Co. cast of THE LION IN WINTER getting ready to go to the Charleston Arts FestivAll this weekend. We’ll be performing a cutting of the play at the Walker Theatre (at the Clay Center) at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25.

Jason Young has joined the crew and will be calling the show for us. He’s the director of Backyard Theater Company’s TALKING WITH… which will also perform on Saturday later in the evening at 9:00 p.m.

I’ll be performing in both.
